Previous types of jobs: Accountancy and audit - After completing my degree in Economics at Nottingham University, I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a “big 8” firm. 13 years in private practice external audit, accountancy and corporate tax, then 13 years in local government internal audit with most of that time spent as a Chief Internal Auditor. Then, after teaching for four years, four more years in private practice accountancy. Teaching – four years teaching, during which time I completed a PGCE and an Adult Numeracy Subject Specialist qualification. Initially taught mathematics and adult numeracy in Further Education colleges. Later taught mainly finance-related subjects on degree courses including Foundation Degree, BA, MA and MBA.
